The pavilion

Nordic oat expertise in one place

EU SUS OATS promotes sustainably produced European oats and oat ingredients from Nordic producers. The programme highlights how versatile oats are, how well they suit modern food applications, and the expertise European oat producers bring to high-quality ingredients for the international food industry.

At Fi Europe 2026, European Sustainable Oats is the official exhibitor. Five oat companies share one stand, so food manufacturers can compare ingredients, discuss specifications and meet several suppliers in a single visit.

The companies

Meet the producers

Two countries, five companies, one shared standard for quality oats. Each producer brings its own strengths, from dedicated gluten-free milling to high-value oat fractions.

65 Oats by Kinnusen Mylly

A dedicated gluten-free oat mill in northern Finland

65 Oats is a family-owned company running one of the world’s northernmost oat mills, in Utajärvi on the 65th parallel. The mill is dedicated to gluten-free oats and builds on purity, traceability and local sourcing.

The company works closely with its contract farmers to keep quality and purity high from field to mill. Its target for gluten content is below 5 ppm, well under the 20 ppm limit for gluten-free labelling. 65 Oats exports to more than 35 countries.

Fazer Mills

Grain-based solutions for the food industry

Fazer Mills is part of the Fazer Group and specialises in grain-based ingredients for the food industry. At its Lahti site, oats are cleaned, sorted, dehulled and steam heat-treated before becoming flakes, bran and flour, or being separated into components such as oat protein, beta-glucan and oat oil.

Fazer Mills is known for circular economy work: its Lahti plant turns oat hulls, once a by-product used only for energy or feed, into xylitol.

Why Nordic oats

From Nordic fields to quality ingredients

  • 1

    Grown in a cool climate

Cold winters naturally limit pests, while long, bright summer days support steady growth, large groats and a clean, mild flavour.

  • 2

    Quality you can trace

Short, domestic grain chains and farmer contracting. Mills typically work under FSSC 22000, ISO and HACCP systems, with gluten-free segregation and organic options where applicable.

  • 3

    Naturally rich in beta-glucan

Oats provide soluble fibre, plant protein, B vitamins and minerals. Oat beta-glucan has been shown to lower blood cholesterol.*

  • 4

    Circular by design

Hulls and side streams go to energy, feed or new ingredients, such as xylitol made from oat hulls.

* High cholesterol is a risk factor in the development of coronary heart disease. The beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 3 g of oat beta-glucan.
